Swimming brothers Shaune and Brett Fraser areCayman’s best bet for Olympic medals at the LondonGames in July. They train for up to six hours a day,six times a week so know the importance of goodnutrition. FlavaScribe Ron Shillingford caught up withthe tenacious pair to find out more about their diet.

Flava: What do you eat and when in an average day?

Brett : I eat a small snack before morning practices and then eat regularmeals throughout the day. Additionally, I supplement with a proteinshake following workout. It changes every day but typically it will be eggs, sausage, toast and orange juice for breakfast. I then have a sandwich orburrito for lunch, followed by either chicken, beef or steak for dinner withrice or pasta and vegetables.

Shaune: I always try to eat immediately after my practices. I havebreakfast after I practice, a smaller lunch before afternoon practice, anda bigger dinner. Since practices are relatively close, I try to eat lighter inbetween them. It varies day-to-day. Usually consists of fruit and eggs forbreakfast, sandwich/salad for lunch and rice/pasta with a meat for dinner.

Flava: What’s your favourite dish?

Brett : My favourite dishes are widespread – Mexican, Asian, Cuban and Caribbean.
Shaune:
I love local food; oxtail and jerk chicken are probably two of my favourites.

Flava: Naughty treats?

Brett: My guilty pleasures when out of strict training are donuts, ice cream and cookies.

Shaune: Although, my diet is strict I do occasionally have foods thataren’t as healthy for me. I have a big sweet-tooth so any kind of candy orchocolate is usually on the list.

Flava: Best dish your mother Laurice cooks for you?

Brett : I can’t choose one in particular, they’re all great.

Shaune: My mom is a great cook. I don’t know if I can single out one dishas being better than others, because they are all really good.Swimming brothers Shaune and Brett Fraser areCayman’s best bet for Olympic medals at the LondonGames in July.
